Team Nutrition Training Grants
Team Nutrition Training Grants are authorized under Public Law 111–296, which amended Section 19 of the Child Nutrition Act of 1966. These grants have been a cornerstone of the Team Nutrition initiative since its inception in 1995, and play an important role in helping state agencies deliver training and nutrition education that supports the USDA child nutrition programs.
Training Grant for School Meal Recipe Development
A Request for Applications for the Fiscal Year 2020 Team Nutrition Training Grant for School Meal Recipe Development is now available through Grants.gov. FNS expects to award approximately $5.2 million to state agencies (up to $300,000 per state) that administer the National School Lunch Program. The FY 2020 Team Nutrition Training Grant for School Meal Recipe Development will assist states in helping schools offer meals supported by recipes that utilize local agricultural products and reflect local food preparation practices and taste preferences. Using grant funds, state agencies will be able to develop nutritious and tasty recipes that utilize local agricultural products and reflect local food preparation practices and taste preferences. Using these grant funds, state agencies will build their capacity to develop standardized school meal recipes, a process that helps ensure that recipes yield consistent results in quality, quantity, and nutrition, while minimizing food waste and food costs.
