In the summer of 2024, California and Oklahoma will begin issuing new SNAP EBT cards with Chip and Tap technology.

The purpose of this page is to provide technical resources for SNAP EBT chip card implementation.

This is a new collection for the study “Assessment of Administrative Costs of Electronic Healthy Incentives Projects (eHIP).” This study will calculate costs incurred by eHIP, which will provide incentives through EBT integration to increase purchase of healthy foods (e.g., fruits and vegetables) by SNAP participants.

Important reminder for SNAP retailers to not extend credit to SNAP customers. 

There are new tools to address summer hunger, including Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer (Summer EBT), and a new flexible way to offer meals to children living in hard-to-reach, rural communities.
