This information collection is for the Performance Reporting System and management evaluation processes, which ensure that SNAP state agencies are operating the program in accordance with statute and regulations.

The purpose of this memo is to provide guiding principles that assist state agencies in meeting regulatory requirements. Effective engagement by state agencies with Tribes is essential to meeting the nutrition needs of citizens of Tribal nations.

USDA FNS, Tribes, and SNAP state agencies share goals to improve nutrition and health for American Indians/Alaskan Natives (AI/AN) through nutrition assistance and nutrition education.

This notice invites the general public and other public agencies to comment on this proposed information collection on SNAP trafficking controls and fraud investigations. This is a revision of a currently approved collection.

FNS strongly recommends that all states develop a SNAP outreach plan. In addition to increasing enrollment among eligible non-participating households, SNAP outreach can help maintain enrollment for existing SNAP clients through the recertification process, including households who need additional support as state agencies transition from COVID-19 federal PHE flexibilities to normal SNAP operations. 

This is a revision of a currently approved collection and existing burden in use without a valid OMB control number in SNAP. This information collection captures the burden associated with the requirement that states make ineligible SNAP participants with substantial lottery or gambling winnings and establish cooperative agreements with gaming entities within their states to identify SNAP participants with substantial winnings. 

The fiscal year 2018 Direct Certification Improvement Grant Request for Applications are available to state agencies that administer the National School Lunch and the School Breakfast programs to fund the costs of improving your direct certification rates with SNAP, and other needs-based assistance programs.

This document is for state agencies that administer SNAP to use in developing and submitting their SNAP outreach plan to FNS for approval.

The purpose of this memo is to inform you that USDA will not release a SNAP national payment error rate for FY 2016.

The memorandum that follows is intended to clarify the three ways in which FNS measures timeliness of initial SNAP application processing.  This memorandum does not represent new policy, but seeks to clarify the three existing data collection and monitoring procedures.
