This guidance describes $1 billion being provided by FNS to enhance local school districts’ ability to purchase foods for school meals by offering resources needed to address supply chain challenges directly to schools and school districts.

The purpose of this CMCS Informational Bulletin is to inform state Medicaid agencies that the USDA Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) is issuing a solicitation for participation in additional demonstration projects for states to evaluate the impact of using Medicaid eligibility data to directly certify students for free and reduced price school meals.
FNS plans to add TEFAP Reach and Resiliency Grants to its list of approved programs under the Uniform Grant Application for Non-Entitlement Discretionary Grants, and intends to collect additional information for the TEFAP Reach and Resiliency Grants outside of what is currently in the uniform package.
