The purpose of this memorandum is to provide funding allocation amounts for the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program for all state agencies for FY 2025, including information on funding requirements and deadlines, and a reminder of important program requirements.

This Notice of Funding Availability is to distribute $10 million to state agencies to competitively award Equipment Assistance Grants to eligible school food authorities participating in the National School Lunch Program. This NOFA with its attachment provide guidance on the grant awards, funding, funding goals, period of performance, award/award timelines, administration and reporting for these grants.

Recently, FNS has received a number of questions related to buying local meat, poultry, game, and eggs; this memorandum seeks to clarify the regulatory requirements related to food safety and answer specific questions related to these products with a series of questions and answers.

USDA is committed to providing nutrition assistance to hard-hit families across the country due to the coronavirus pandemic. In support of President Biden’s call to action on hunger, USDA announced that it is increasing the Pandemic EBT benefit by approximately 15 percent, providing more money for low-income families and millions of children missing meals due to school and child care closures.

State agencies used these grants to implement and evaluate nutrition education, meal service training, and environmental changes in school or child care settings. This booklet showcases only a small portion of the wide array of grantee activities conducted.

The Menu Planner for School Meals has been revised to reflect the Child Nutrition Programs: Transitional Standards for Milk, Whole Grains, and Sodium Final Rule that was published in February 2022.

On Aug.16, 2023, FNS announced the award of $9.4 million in federal funding for the FY 2023 Team Nutrition Grant for Supporting Nutrition Education for School-Aged Children.
