At this time, only certain states are operating with online purchasing capabilities. FNS is working with other states interested in expanding online purchasing. 

Electronic Benefits Transfer is an electronic system that allows a SNAP participant to pay for food using SNAP benefits. When a participant shops at a SNAP authorized retail store, their SNAP EBT account is debited to reimburse the store for food that was purchased. EBT is in use in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Guam.

This State SNAP Interview toolkit focuses on SNAP interviews, requirements and best practices. The interview is the most important step in the certification process for SNAP.

The SNAP National Accuracy Clearinghouse is an innovative technology solution designed to prevent SNAP participants from receiving benefits in multiple states. All SNAP state agencies are working toward nationwide implementation of the NAC, an interstate data matching system.

The FNS State Systems team has produced a series of training presentations designed to help state agencies understand and comply with the FNS approval process. These eight on-line presentations correspond to FNS Handbook 901, with information on the key documents or phases in the process.

This session will feature three states discussing where they’re at now, how they got there, and where they’re going. 

On Oct. 13, 2022 FNS held an initial webinar outlining the initial implementation plans for State SNAP agencies to onboard to the National Accuracy Clearinghouse (NAC) system.

FNS is targeting the areas of program operation listed, for state SNAP Agency Management Evaluations for the upcoming fiscal year. State SNAP agencies are required to conduct MEs for the target areas in the upcoming fiscal year.
