FNS is conducting a study, Understanding Risk Assessment in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Payment Accuracy, to develop a comprehensive picture of whether and how SNAP state agencies use RA tools and determine if these tools create disparate impacts on protected classes.
Congress passed a law in late 2022 to help SNAP participants who are victims of card skimming, cloning and other similar methods. To implement this new law, states are working quickly to develop and implement processes to help people whose SNAP benefits were stolen seek and obtain relief. This interim final rule requires SNAP state agencies to provide information to the National Accuracy Clearinghouse (NAC) regarding individuals receiving SNAP benefits in their states in order to ensure they are not already receiving benefits in another state.
This is a revision of a currently approved collection and existing burden in use without a valid OMB control number in SNAP.
