This request for approval of information collection is necessary to obtain input into the development of nutrition education interventions for population groups served by FNS. Collection of this information will increase FNS' ability to formulate nutrition education interventions that resonate with the intended target population, particularly low-income families.
FNS works with state agencies to ensure eligible individuals and households can make informed decisions about applying for the program and access nutrition assistance benefits. FNS also provides technical assistance as needed.
USDA intends to use all available program flexibilities and contingencies to serve our program participants across our 15 nutrition programs. We have already begun to issue waivers to ease program operations and protect the health of participants.
FNS determined there are Quality Control cases in the Fiscal Year 2022 active frame with back-to-back certification period extensions that have been treated inconsistently by QC reviewers. This memo is intended to clarify the QC procedures for cases that were impacted by these extensions.
