USDA is extending the public comment period on the proposed rule, “Child Nutrition Programs: Revisions to Meal Patterns Consistent With the 2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans,” to May 10, 2023.
This rulemaking proposes long-term school nutrition standards based on the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2020-2025, and feedback the USDA received from child nutrition program stakeholders during a robust stakeholder engagement campaign.
This rulemaking proposes to expand access to the Community Eligibility Provision by lowering the minimum identified student percentage participation threshold from 40 percent to 25 percent, which would give states and schools greater flexibility to choose to invest non-federal funds to offer no-cost meals to all enrolled students.
This agenda provides summary descriptions of significant and not significant regulations being developed in FNS.
This notice invites the general public and other public agencies to comment on this proposed information collection. This collection is a revision of a currently approved collection for the School Meals Operations Study information collection with updated survey instruments for SY 2022-23. This study will collect data from state agencies and public on the continued use and effectiveness of the nationwide child nutrition COVID-19 waivers.
The Food and Nutrition Service published a document in the Federal Register of Jan. 6, 2023, concerning reimbursement rates for meals served in the Summer Food Service Program for Children. The document contained an incorrect table heading.
These Federal Register notices inform the public of the annual adjustments to the reimbursement rates for meals served in the SFSP.
FNS is correcting regulations that published in a final rule in the Federal Register, and went into effect in the CFR on Oct. 1, 2022. The rule amended the SFSP regulations to strengthen program integrity by clarifying, simplifying, and streamlining program administration to facilitate compliance with program requirements.
