This webinar provides guidance on flexibilities available to help you manage USDA Foods in Schools during these unprecedented times due to COVID-19. Topics include information on USDA Foods direct delivered products, USDA Department of Defense (DoD) Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program, and the National Processing Program. We cover some actions you can take to assist with utilization of USDA Foods inventories and minimize food loss. This webinar is intended for state distributing agency and FNS regional office staff who manage USDA Foods in Schools programs.

This webinar highlights recent updates and provides guidance on managing USDA Foods in Schools, including information on the USDA Department of Defense (DoD) Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program and National Processing Program. We cover updates on allocating funds and adding new sites to USDA DoD Fresh, monitoring USDA Foods inventories, and details on SY 2020-2021 entitlement calculations, including the Families First Coronavirus Response Act Opt-In Waiver for School Year 2020- 2021 National School Lunch Program USDA Foods Entitlement Calculations.

The nutrition educator from the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians in Wisconsin has compiled a cookbook containing healthy recipes that utilize USDA Foods found in the FDPIR food package.

Consistent with the CARES Act, USDA will be allocating the $50 million for facility improvements and equipment upgrades to Indian Tribal Organizations and state agencies that administer FDPIR for program costs allowable under the law.

The ITO/state agency must submit Form FNS-152, Monthly Distribution of Donated Foods to Family Units,  that documents the data obtained in the physical inventory with the perpetual inventory record. Shortages must be reported to the appropriate FNS regional office.

Form FNS-674 is used to request access to the USDA Food Program Reporting System (FPRS).  

FNS Form 292A is to be used to report Commodity Distribution for Disaster Relief. 

This webinar is for states who are currently using, or are interested in applying for, the USDA DoD Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program in the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). We share tools and best practices to assist state agencies, SFSP sponsors, and SFSP sites in using their resources to provide fresh fruits and vegetables to SFSP participants during the summer months.  

Learn how to inspect USDA DoD Fresh produce deliveries and how to provide feedback if you receive produce not grown in the U.S. or poor quality produce. This webinar is specifically targeted to provide instructions for FDPIR Indian Tribal Organization warehouse staff and FNS regional office staff who manage FDPIR.
