CACFP is a federally funded, state-administered program that provides aid to child and adult care centers and day care homes to serve nutritious foods that contribute to the health and wellness of young children and older and chronically impaired adults. FNS is codifying a revised statutory requirement included in the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018. The 2018 Farm Bill at section 4003 requires FDPIR administrative funds to remain available for obligation at the Indian Tribal Organization (ITO) and state agency level for a period of two federal fiscal years. This provision was self-executing and went into effect upon enactment of the 2018 Farm Bill in federal fiscal year 2019. 

The ITO/state agency must submit Form FNS-152, Monthly Distribution of Donated Foods to Family Units,  that documents the data obtained in the physical inventory with the perpetual inventory record. Shortages must be reported to the appropriate FNS regional office.
