This action implements statutory requirements and policy improvements to strengthen administrative oversight and operational performance of the Child Nutrition Programs.

USDA intends to use all available program flexibilities and contingencies to serve our program participants across our 15 nutrition programs. We have already begun to issue waivers to ease program operations and protect the health of participants.

The SNAP Quality Control database contains detailed information on the economic and demographic circumstances of a sample of households selected for review as part of the SNAP QC System. The data include households from the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands.  Data are available from 1996 through the most recent year for which QC error rates are available.

The Crediting Handbook for the Child and Adult Care Food Program reflects the updated CACFP meal pattern requirements, which became effective October 2017.

USDA is extending the public comment period on the proposed rule, “Child Nutrition Programs: Revisions to Meal Patterns Consistent With the 2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans,” to May 10, 2023.

This rulemaking proposes long-term school nutrition standards based on the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2020-2025, and feedback the USDA received from child nutrition program stakeholders during a robust stakeholder engagement campaign. 

The attached questions and answers address the interim final rule, SNAP: Requirement for Interstate Data Matching to Prevent Duplicate Issuances, also known as the NAC interim final rule.

The U.S. Departments of Health and Human Services and Agriculture announce the first meeting of the newly appointed 2025 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee. This meeting will be open to the public virtually. Additionally, this notice opens a public comment period that will remain open until late 2024, throughout the Committee's deliberations.

This report responds to the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021, which directs the FNS to provide a report on the amount of added sugars in school meals.
