Team Up for School Nutrition Success

Last Published: 02/11/2016

USDA Food and Nutrition Service’s (FNS) Team Up for School Nutrition Success (Team Up) initiative provides tailored technical assistance to school nutrition professionals to support them in enhancing their school meal programs while maintaining strong student participation.  Team Up trainings use best practice presentations and a peer mentor-based model to cover topics such as menu planning, financial management, and food safety.  Each attendee develops an individualized action plan with focused goals to achieve when they return to their respective schools.

Beginning in 2014, FNS partnered with the University of Mississippi’s Institute of Child Nutrition (ICN) to host seven regional Team Up workshops. In 2016, FNS is further expanding this effort by empowering State agencies to facilitate their own Team Up workshops to reach many more school nutrition professionals across the country. The State agency Team Up trainings will ensure schools in their state get the support they need to administer successful meal programs.

For more information about the Team Up trainings or to participate in the Team Up Thursdays! webinar series, visit the ICN website or email the FNS staff.
