SNAP-Ed 30th Anniversary Communications Toolkit

This May through July, join us as FNS celebrates SNAP Education’s (SNAP-Ed) 30th anniversary. Over the past 30 years, SNAP-Ed has effectively provided nutrition education to millions of Americans. The SNAP-Ed program promotes nutritious food choices and physical activity to help people lead healthier lives.

Key Messages
  • This year marks the 30th anniversary of SNAP Education (SNAP-Ed). SNAP-Ed is an evidence-based program administered by the USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service. Over the past 30 years, SNAP-Ed has educated participants on how to get the most out of their SNAP benefits, while also promoting a healthy diet and staying active.
  • The SNAP-Ed program continues to make a positive impact throughout the country by providing nutrition education. For example, adults participating in SNAP-Ed often eat more fruits and vegetables and engage in more vigorous physical activity. Meanwhile, SNAP-Ed efforts in schools teach children the importance of fitness and cardiovascular health.
  • SNAP-Ed is an important tool that provides Americans with nutrition education and nutrition security. SNAP-Ed partners expand the program’s reach among racial/ethnic minorities, lower income communities, and rural populations, including tribal communities. From community gardens to cooking classes, SNAP-Ed shares the importance of eating a healthy diet, in a hands-on, meaningful way.
