When school lets out for break, millions of kids and teens are at risk of going hungry because they no longer have access to free or reduced-price school meals.

USDA's summer meals help ensure that these students have access to free summer meals so that they can continue to learn and grow outside of school.

Community organizations like Cops N Kids use the summer meal programs to serve free summer meals to kids and teens 18 years old and under in low-income areas.

The Cops N Kids Program was created 20 years ago to reduce juvenile delinquencies and build stronger relationships with the youth of Southbridge, Massachusetts. The program also employs college students, who were themselves alumni of the program, to serve as mentors and role models. This program combined with free summer meals is a great way to make sure kids and teens have access to physical and learning activities and good nutrition.
