Boys and Girls Club of America and Using the Summer Food Service Program
Tiffani Ponder, Healthy Lifestyles Director at BGCA HQ, and Jennifer Aumeier, Nutrition Director of BGCA of Ada County in Idaho talk about how BGCAs across the country can utilize the Summer Food Service Program to enhance their programs, recruit more kids, and help feed hungry children during the summer. It's a win-win situation for everyone.
As Jennifer Aumeier says in her presentation, "Many staff I've spoken with remember a time in Ada County when food programs were not available and children would struggle with hunger. When asked the number one difference they noticed after food programs became a part of club culture, almost all staff noted that behavior was better and having food available regularly really helped club members focus on the other fun things going on in the club and not just on their hunger."
