The purpose of this memorandum is to clarify that traditional foods may be served in CNPs and to provide examples of how several traditional foods may contribute towards a reimbursable meal.

This memorandum informs stakeholders on the progress made by the Food and Nutrition Service in updating the food crediting system for all child nutrition programs. This is a first step by FNS towards improving the CNP crediting system to best address today’s evolving food and nutrition environment and meet the needs of those operating and benefiting from the CNPs.
