Resource TEFAP: Availability of Commodities for FY 2008

This notice announces the surplus and purchased commodities that USDA expects to make available for donation to states for use in providing nutrition assistance to the needy under TEFAP in FY 2008. The commodities made available under this notice must, at the discretion of the state, be distributed to eligible recipient agencies for use in preparing meals and/or for distribution to households for home consumption.

In light of recent legislative changes, FNS is issuing the following new guidance on the eligibility of Iraqi and Afghani special immigrants. Due to these changes in legislation, Iraqis are now treated somewhat differently than Afghanis. Because FNS has updated its policy interpretation on how to treat these special immigrants, this new guidance supersedes our previous guidance on Iraqi and Afghani Special immigrants issued on Jan. 24, 2008.

This interim final rule amends the regulations for the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children by implementing most of the nondiscretionary provisions of the Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act of 2004 that address participant certification and general program administration in the WIC program.
