Correction - Simplified Cost Accounting and Other Actions To Reduce Paperwork in the Summer Food Service Program
This document contains corrections to the final rule entitled “Simplified Cost Accounting and Other Actions to Reduce Paperwork in the Summer Food Service Program,” published in the Federal Register on June 1, 2018. These corrections do not impose new program requirements.
This notice announces the Department's annual adjustments to the Income Eligibility Guidelines to be used in determining eligibility for free and reduced price meals and free milk for the period from July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020. These guidelines are used by schools, institutions, and facilities participating in the National School Lunch Program (and Commodity School Program), School Breakfast Program, Special Milk Program for Children, Child and Adult Care Food Program and Summer Food Service Program.
This notice informs the public of the annual adjustments to the reimbursement rates for meals served in the Summer Food Service Program for Children. These adjustments address changes in the Consumer Price Index, as required under the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act. The 2019 reimbursement rates are presented as a combined set of rates to highlight simplified cost accounting procedures. The 2019 rates are also presented individually, as separate operating and administrative rates of reimbursement, to show the effect of the Consumer Price Index adjustment on each rate.
The purpose of this memorandum is to provide guidance for State agencies and Program operators on the status of nationwide waivers of statutory and regulatory requirements in the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP).
The 2020-2025 Dietary Guidelines for Americans development process is under way. Updating the Dietary Guidelines for Americans is a multi-step, multi-year process.
Parts of this memorandum have been rescinded by SFSP 01-2019: Summer Food Service Program Memoranda Rescission, October 11, 2018. Rescinded policy has been struck through.
Attached is updated clarifying guidance for state agencies regarding the 60 Day Claim Submission and 90 Day Reporting Requirements for Child Nutrition Programs which was released on April 25, 2018. This latest version includes edits to align with changes made in the Summer Food Service Program Simplified Cost Accounting Final Rule published on June 1, 2018.
This collection is a new information collection for the voluntary collection of summer meal site information from State agencies.
