Updated Infant and Preschool Meal Patterns in NSLP and SBP: Q&As

On April 25, 2016, FNS published the final rule, “Child and Adult Care Food Program: Meal Pattern Revisions Related to the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010” to update the National School Lunch Program’s and School Breakfast Program’s  meal pattern requirements for infants and preschoolers under 7 CFR 210.10 and 220.8.

Final Rule: Certification of Compliance With Meal Requirements for the National School Lunch Program Under the HHFKA of 2010

This final rule adopts, with some revisions, changes to the NSLP regulations, as set forth in the interim final rule published in the Federal Register on April 27, 2012. The changes conform to requirements contained in the Healthy, Hunger- Free Kids Act of 2010 regarding performance-based cash assistance for school food authorities certified compliant with meal pattern and nutrition standards.
