PL 100-707 authorizes the President under the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act to pay Disaster Unemployment Assistance to any individual unemployed as a result of a major disaster.
The Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act of 2004 requires that children in food stamp households be directly certified for free school meals. Included in the Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2001 is a provision requiring the Department of Defense to pay certain service members and their families a Family Subsistence Supplemental Allowance so they will not have to rely on food stamps to make ends meet.
