USDA Foods in Schools Fact Sheet

The USDA’s schools/child nutrition USDA Foods programs support domestic nutrition programs and American agricultural producers through purchases of domestic agricultural products for use in schools and institutions. Nutritious USDA-purchased food is provided to the following child nutrition programs: The National School Lunch Program, the Child and Adult Care Food Program, and the Summer Food Service Program.

TEFAP Fact Sheet

The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) is a federal program that helps supplement the diets of low-income Americans, including elderly people, by providing them with emergency food assistance at no cost. Through TEFAP, USDA purchases a variety of nutritious, high-quality USDA Foods, and makes those foods available to state distributing agencies.
