Comment Request - Food Programs Reporting System

The FNS is consolidating certain programmatic and financial data reporting requirements that are currently approved by the Office of Management and Budget, under the Food Programs Reporting System (FPRS), an electronic reporting system. The purpose is to give States and ITO agencies one portal for the various reporting required for the programs that the States and ITOs operate. The data collected is used for a variety of purposes; mainly program evaluation, planning, audits, funding, research, regulatory compliance and general statistics.

The Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) is the Federal agency responsible for managing the domestic nutrition assistance programs. Its mission is to increase food security and reduce hunger in partnership with cooperating organization by providing children and low-income people with access to food, a healthful diet and nutrition education in a manner that supports American agriculture and inspires public confidence. Comment Request - Food Program Reporting System (FPRS)

This study is necessary to implement section 28(a)(1) of the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act. This legislation directs the U.S. Department of Agriculture to carry out annual national performance assessments of the School Breakfast Program and the National School Lunch Programs. With the expansion of CEP nationwide, the CEP Characteristics Study will include surveys of nationally representative samples of participating and eligible non-participating LEAs to obtain updated information on the characteristics of participating and non-participating districts and schools. It will also examine CEP impacts on student participation and per meal revenue.

The objective of the FDPIR Nutrition Paraprofessional Training Assessment for Indian Tribal Organizations is to provide FNS with information of the best way to deliver the training to staff.

Comments Request - Evaluation of the Independent Review of Applications Process for School Meal Programs

The primary purpose of this study is to provide FNS with information about the effectiveness of the Independent Review of Applications (IRA) requirement that is conducted by local educational agencies in the school meal programs identified by the State agency as demonstrating high levels of, or a high risk for, administrative error in the certification of free and reduced price applications.
