Nonprofit School Food Service Account Nonprogram Food Revenue Requirements

Section 206 of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 (HHFKA) amended section 12 of the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act by adding paragraph (q) on nonprogram foods. This amendment established requirements related to the revenue from the sale of nonprogram foods.

Questions and Answers on the Transition to and Implementation of 2 CFR Part 200

FNS has received many questions related to implementation of 2 CFR Part 200 and understands that changes to financial and procurement systems are costly and require time to develop and implement. Review of Special Provision Options 2 and 3 Base Year

Since School Year (SY) 2013 -2014, state agencies have been required to conduct a review of base year certification and benefit issuance documentation for any school food authority requesting approval to participate in NSLP or SBP using Special Provisions 2 or 3. State agencies must also review the documentation of any school food authority with a base year that was established prior to SY 2013-2014 before the end of the school food authority’s current approved cycle. This memorandum supersedes SP-59-2013, Review of Provision 2/3 Base Year, which was issued on Sept. 26, 2013.

Service of Traditional Foods in Public Facilities

Section 4033 of the Agricultural Act of 2014 (PL 113-79) (Farm Bill) directs the USDA and the Food and Drug Administration to allow the donation to and serving of traditional food through food service programs at public facilities and nonprofit facilities, including those operated by Indian tribes and facilities operated by tribal organizations, that primarily serve Indians.

National School Lunch, Special Milk, and School Breakfast Programs, National Average Payments/Maximum Reimbursement Rates (July 1, 2015 - June 30, 2016)

This Notice announces the annual adjustments to the "national average payments," the amount of money the Federal Government provides States for lunches, afterschool snacks and breakfasts served to children participating in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs; to the "maximum reimbursement rates," the maximum per lunch rate from Federal funds that a State can provide a school food authority for lunches served to children participating in the National School Lunch Program; and to the rate of reimbursement for a half-pint of milk served to non-needy children in a school or institution which participates in the Special Milk Program for Children.
