The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) is a federally assisted program providing free fresh fruits and vegetables to children at eligible elementary schools during the school day. The goal of the FFVP is to introduce children to fresh fruits and vegetables, to include new and different varieties, and to increase overall acceptance and consumption of fresh, unprocessed produce among children. The FFVP also encourages healthier school environments by promoting nutrition education.

Updated Infant and Preschool Meal Patterns in NSLP and SBP: Q&As

On April 25, 2016, FN) published the final rule, “Child and Adult Care Food Program: Meal Pattern Revisions Related to the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010” to update the National School Lunch Program’s and School Breakfast Program’s  meal pattern requirements for infants and preschoolers under 7 CFR 210.10 and 220.8.

2018 Direct Certification Improvement Grant RFA

The USDA Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) is pleased to announce the release of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2018 Direct Certification Improvement Grant Request for Applications (RFA). The grants are available to state agencies that administer the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and the School Breakfast Program (SBP) to fund the costs of improving your direct certification rates with the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and other needs-based assistance programs, as allowed under federal statute and regulations.
