Incident: Severe Storms

When: Sept. 27, 2024

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Programs (SNAP)

  • On Oct. 4, 2024, FNS approved the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (DJFS) request to issue mass replacements to impacted households. This waiver approval allows households to receive replacement of SNAP benefits as stated in the approval due to power outages as a result of severe storms that occurred on Sept. 27, 2024. The waiver approval applies to Jackson County.
  • On Oct. 1, 2024, FNS approved the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (DJFS) request to waive the 10-day reporting requirement for replacement of food purchased with SNAP benefits lost as a result of power outages due to severe storms beginning on Sept. 27, 2024. The waiver is applicable statewide and in effect through Oct. 27, 2024.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Programs (SNAP)

  • On Aug. 28, 2024, FNS approved the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (DJFS) request to modify the mass replacements waiver to impacted households. The initial waiver approved on Aug. 16, 2024, includes Geauga and Lake counties and the following zip codes in Cuyahoga County (44101, 44102, 44103, 44104, 44105, 44106, 44107, 44108, 44109, 44110, 44111, 44112, 44113, 44114, 44115, 44116, 44117, 44118, 44119, 44120, 44121, 44122, 44123, 44124, 44125, 44126, 44127, 44128, 44129, 44130, 44131, 44132, 44133, 44134, 44135, 44136, 44137, 44138, 44139, 44140, 44141, 44142, 44143, 44144, 44145, 44146, 44147, 44181, 44188, 44190, 44070, 44022) counties. This modification waiver approval allows households to receive replacements of SNAP benefits as stated in the initial approval due to power outages as a result of severe storms that began on Aug. 6, 2024. The modification waiver approval applies to the following zip codes in Ashtabula County: 44085 and 44099.
  • On Aug. 16, 2024, FNS approved the Ohio DJFS request to issue mass replacements to impacted households. This waiver approval allows households to receive replacement of SNAP benefits as stated in the approval due to power outages as a result of severe storms that began Aug. 6, 2024.   • On Aug. 15, 2024, FNS approved the Ohio DJFS request to waive the 10-day reporting requirement for food purchased with SNAP benefits that was lost as a result of power outages due to severe storms that began on Aug. 6, 2024. The waiver applies to Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Portage, Summit, and Trumbull counties. The waiver is in effect through Sept. 5, 2024.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Programs (SNAP)

  • On March 21, 2024, FNS approved the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services request to waive the 10-day reporting requirement for food purchased with SNAP benefits that was lost as a result of power outages due to storms that occurred on March 14, 2024. The waiver request applies to residents of Auglaize, Crawford, Darke, Delaware, Hancock, Licking, Logan, Mercer, Miami, Richland, and Union counties and is in effect through April 15, 2024.

Incident: Tornadoes and Power Outages

When: May 27, 2019 and continuing

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Programs (SNAP)

  • On June 21, 2019, FNS approved the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services' request to waive timely reporting of food loss for households in Montgomery County. This waiver approval will allow affected households in Montgomery County to make a request for replacement of SNAP benefits through July 5, 2019. These replacement SNAP benefits will allow households to replace food lost due to power outages caused by tornadoes that began on May 27, 2019.
