SUBJECT: New Reporting Procedures for FNS-828 Paid Lunch Price Report for School Year 2016-2017
TO: Regional Directors

All Regions
State Agencies
Child Nutrition Programs
All States

This memorandum announces the change in reporting procedures of paid lunch prices in school food authorities (SFAs) participating in the National School Lunch Program for School Year 2016-17. SFAs are expected to report the most frequently charged price for elementary, middle/junior high and high school levels to their state agency. A complete list of prices reported on form FNS-828 should now be submitted to FNS by state agencies using the Food Programs Reporting System (FPRS).

To facilitate a more efficient tracking process and increase reporting integrity, the FNS-828 was incorporated into FPRS for School Year 2016-2017. Previously, state agencies submitted the FNS-828 to a shared FNS mailbox. In School Year 2016-2017, and all subsequent years, state agencies must submit their annual FNS-828 report in FPRS.

This memorandum does not change any reporting due dates and frequency of reporting. As a reminder, the FNS-828 for the current school year should be submitted to FNS annually by the last operation day of January. More information was provided to SFAs and state agencies in memorandum SP 10-2016, issued Nov. 16, 2015.

State agencies are reminded to distribute this memorandum to their program operators. SFAs should contact their state agencies with any questions and state agencies should direct questions to their appropriate FNS regional office.
