Thursday, March 16, 2017
Description:
In this webinar, Blair Tucker-Gruchala, Janet West, and Todd Griffith of the Food Distribution Division summarize how the USDA Department of Defense (DoD) Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program operates, discuss Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) dollars, explain the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Order Receipt System (FFAVORS) Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) tasks, and describe best practices for using USDA DoD Fresh in the SFSP. In Fiscal Year 2016, eight pilot States used SFSP USDA Foods dollars to buy fresh fruits and vegetables through the USDA DoD Fresh Program during the summer when school is not in session. Also, representatives from two of the pilot States, Sarah White of the Iowa Department of Education and Rosie Krueger of the Vermont Agency of Education, share their experience with the pilot.
