- Fact Sheets for Healthier School Meals
help schools implement the major recommendations from the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans within the school meal pattern requirements and nutrition standards.
- Serving Up MyPlate: A Yummy Curriculum
is a new collection of classroom materials that helps elementary school teachers integrate nutrition education into Math, Science, English Language Arts, and Health. This yummy curriculum introduces the importance of eating from all five food groups using the MyPlate icon and a variety of hands–on activities. Students also learn the importance of physical activity to staying healthy.

is a
series of communication
tools designed to help you
engage teachers, principals,
parents, foodservice
managers and students in
school wellness efforts. To
support healthy food choices
and physical activity at
your school, a school-wide
coordinated approach works
best. These tools will help
you bring everyone together
to promote student wellness
and prevent childhood
obesity. This resource
includes an audience-tested
video and a print handout
for teachers, principals,
parents, foodservice
managers and students. Focus
groups across the country
informed the development of
these tools - so they
reflect what the various
audiences found to be
motivational and realistic.- Making it Happen: School
Nutrition Success Stories
includes success stories of
innovative K-12 schools
across the United States
that improved their school
nutrition environments and
the nutritional quality of
foods and beverages offered
and sold on school campuses.
Making It Happen! includes a
variety of materials
developed by some of the
schools and contact
information for each story.

Recipes for Healthy Kids
Cookbooks
include 30 delicious, kid-approved recipes from the Recipe for Healthy Kids (R4HK) Competition, which challenged teams of school nutrition professionals, chefs, students, parents and other community members to develop creative and tasty recipes that schools can easily incorporate into their National School Lunch Program menus. These recipes have been standardized and compiled into cookbooks for use in homes, child care centers, and schools.
