Childhood Hunger Grants

In May 2011 the University of Kentucky Center for Poverty Research, with funding from the Food and Nutrition Service in the U.S. Department of Agriculture, competitively awarded a first round of grants to five large and eight small projects in the amount of $2.45 million to qualified individuals and institutions to provide rigorous research that expands our understanding of hunger among children in the United States and the attendant policy implications.

Round 1 Grant Recipients:

FY 2011


Round 2 Grant Recipients: A second round of grants was awarded to a new pool of competitive applicants in May of 2012, via seven large and five small grants for a total of $1.6 million.

FY 2012


Round 3 Grant Recipients: The third round has commenced and by application deadline of December 3, 2012, proposals were received for 8 large grants and 19 small grants. A total of $1.2 million will be awarded to a mix of competitively selected large and small grants in April 2013.
