American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009

The Emergency Food Assistance Program

Recovery Act logo

The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) will receive $100 million to purchase commodities for food banks to refill emptying shelves and $50 million to assist with administrative functions.

TEFAP ARRA Plan Update (06/18/2010)

The ARRA TEFAP investments used to purchase food and support the administration of TEFAP across the nation were implemented according to the original plan with the exception of one of the original performance measures which has been deleted because the final ARRA reporting requirements did not include this information as anticipated. Only $1.29 million of the $100 million for food purchases was carried over from 2009 to 2010, and State agencies placed orders for peanut butter to use the balance of funds.
