The nutrition assistance programs
administered by the United States Department of Agriculture’s
Food and Nutrition Service |
 |
(FNS) reach millions of children and
low-income people each day. They provide access to food
resources and, through nutrition education, assist families in
making healthier choices. |
The FNS core nutrition messages support the agency’s long-standing commitment to improving the nutrition of children and low-income families. The recently released
messages, supporting tips, advice, and guidance complement the earlier core messages, MyPlate, and the Dietary Guidelines for Americans.

These resources were designed to reach and resonate with mothers and children served by WIC, SNAP, Child Nutrition, and other
Federal nutrition assistance programs. New web-based tools help to convey key messages -
videos,
widgets, and a
video game for kids – and illustrate some of the many ways to disseminate the messages.
The messages make it easier for State and local agencies to
deliver consistent messages and “speak with one
voice;” a goal that FNS
supports. When programs work together to coordinate efforts,
they increase the likelihood that participants receive their
messages and take action.
