2007 Farm Bill Presentation
Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns and Food, Nutrition, and Consumer Services Under Secretary Nancy Montanez Johner toured the Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia, PA with students from General George A. McCall Elementary School and discussed the importance of a balanced diet and physical activity.

PHILADELPHIA, PA, Mar. 26, 2007 -- Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns and Food, Nutrition, and Consumer Services Under Secretary Nancy Montanez Johner toured the Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia, PA with students from General George A. McCall Elementary School and discussed the importance of a balanced diet and physical activity. They also held a panel discussion with key community leaders on Title IV of the 2007 Farm Bill.  The Farm Bill includes efforts to simplify and modernize the Food Stamp Program to improve access and better reflect the needs of recipients and States. It also proposes to streamline other food assistance programs to improve administration and efficiency of programs, and increase support for healthy eating, including in schools and other facilities that participate in food assistance programs.
