Program Integrity

SNAP Stewardship Solutions Project

Last Modified: 12/15/2013

The SNAP Stewardship Solutions Project represents the Food and Nutrition Service’s ongoing work to crack down on individuals who violate SNAP program rules and is part of the Administration’s Campaign to Cut Waste, an effort to fight fraud, abuse and misuse across Federal programs. While fraud is rare in SNAP, no amount is acceptable, and it will not be tolerated.  FNS takes its mandate to be responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars very seriously and works closely with States, law enforcement partners, USDA’s Office of the Inspector General, the general public and others to fight SNAP fraud.   Fighting SNAP fraud protects the integrity of the nation’s nutrition safety net and ensures that critical nutrition assistance is available to help millions of low income families and individuals put healthy food on the table.
