Incident: Situation of Distress - Structure Fire

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

  • On Jan. 3, 2024, FNS approved the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) request to waive the 10-day reporting requirement for replacement of food purchased with SNAP benefits that was lost as a result of a structure fire that occurred on Dec. 8, 2023. The waiver request applies to the residents that were displaced due to the structure fire in the Royal Motel located at 1117 N. Irving Street in Allentown. The waiver is in effect through Jan. 8, 2024.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
  • On Oct. 21, 2022, FNS approved the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) request to waive the 10-day reporting requirement for replacement of food purchased with SNAP benefits that was lost as a result of a partial collapse of an affordable housing apartment building that occurred on Sept. 14, 2022. The waiver request applies to residents of 1220 Lindley Ave in Philadelphia and is in effect through Nov. 10, 2022.

Incident: Hurricane Ida

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
  • On Sept. 16, 2021, FNS approved the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, request to waive timely reporting of food loss for households in the counties of Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, Philadelphia and York. This waiver approval allows impacted households to make a request for replacement of food purchased with SNAP benefits that was lost as a result of power outages from Hurricane Ida that began on Sept. 1, 2021. The waiver will be in effect through Oct. 1, 2021.
