The American Culinary Federation (ACF), the largest professional organization of chefs in North America, and the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) have entered into a partnership in order to improve the health of youth. Through the Recipes for Healthy Kids (R4HK) Competition and publication of youth-oriented recipes, the partnership will help promote healthier eating behaviors to school-age children, parents, and school nutrition professionals.

The partnership with ACF will bring expertise to assist in the development and judging of the R4HK competition due to ACF members' experience with culinary techniques, training programs, and competitions. Other areas of collaboration could include ACF members assisting local schools in the development of recipes, participation in Chefs Move to Schools, and in planning media events. Joining together to implement specific initiatives provides a unique opportunity to unify and strengthen the public health message and promote healthier foods and beverages in America's schools.
