Implementing Farm to School Activities
School Food Service Professionals Working with Farmers

Integrating Farm to School activities into your school district can create new opportunities, as well as some new challenges. To begin your Farm to School efforts, you may consider starting with the following steps:

  1. Conduct a self-assessment of your school food service operations
  2. Create a Farm to School plan or vision
  3. Contact farmers in your community

For additional information on working with farmers, please consult the Farm to School Implementation and Promotion and Farmers’ Perspective in Selling to Schools sections of the USDA Farm to School Team 2010 Summary Report and visit our resources webpage.
