GLICKMAN TO CELEBRATE EARTH DAY, ADDRESS CONFERENCE ON
BREAKFAST AND LEARNING

WASHINGTON, April 20, 1999 Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman will participate in two public events marking Earth Day on Thursday, April 22, 1999. At 10:15 a.m., he will tour exhibits at the national celebration of Agriculture Earth Day on The Mall. At 11:30 a.m., he will join District of Columbia elected officials, including Mayor Anthony Williams and Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, to help plant 700 new trees along the Anacostia River.

Before Thursday's Earth Day events, Secretary Glickman will deliver opening remarks to the 1st USDA Symposium on Breakfast and Learning in Children at 9:00 a.m. in USDA's Jefferson Auditorium. Glickman will release USDA's annual report on the cost of raising a child. The Symposium will also feature presentations by national authorities in the fields of nutrition and education.
