GLICKMAN TO VISIT TWIN CITIES TO CELEBRATE NATIONAL SCHOOL BREAKFAST WEEK

WASHINGTON, March 1, 1999 Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman will visit the Twin Cities on Wednesday, March 3, 1999 for two events marking National School Breakfast Week.

At 8:00 a.m., Secretary Glickman will join students at the Oak Grove Elementary School for breakfast, followed by a brief program. The school is located at 1301 West 104th Street in Bloomington.

At 10:00 a.m., the Secretary will address a Minnesota Department of Children, Families and Learning symposium on "Optimizing Student Achievement: The Health Connection." The symposium will take place at the St. Paul Hotel, 350 Market Street in St. Paul. A brief press availability will follow the Secretary's remarks.

Recent research confirms that good nutrition, particularly a nutritious breakfast, can help improve students' academic performance and social behavior.
