Goal:

Educate individuals, families and communities about healthy dietary patterns and regular physical activity - based on the Dietary Guidelines for Americans.

Objective 1:

By September 30, 2008 to 2010, support and promote [collaborative] social marketing campaigns of member organizations, as feasible and possible. Also identify opportunities to disseminate/distribute campaign materials to the target population.

Tactics:

• Group will coordinate efforts to implement the following campaigns: Eat Smart Play Hard, Fruits and Vegetables: More Matters and My Pyramid for Kids.

Lead Program and Staff: MN Nutrition Network and all team members

Completion Date: September 30, 2008 (Intermediate Outcomes)

Objective 2:

By September 30, 2008, support distribution of information and resources for policy development regarding the targeting of schools and the community for nutrition education.

Tactics:

• Representation from SNAP group on the Minnesota School Nutrition Association food and school committee.

Completion Date: September 30, 2008

Objective 3:

Throughout FY 2008, maintain the connection with the Minnesota Food and Nutrition Network (MFNN).

Tactics:

• 3 members of the SNAP group will serve as representatives at the MFNN quarterly meetings.

Completion Date: September 30, 2008

Objective 4:

Throughout FY 2008, continue to hold quarterly meetings for the Health and Nutrition Policy Group/SNAP.

Tactics:

• Schedule meetings for the year; extend/expand efforts and cross-program membership while utilizing member networks for coordination of work efforts.
