Goal:
Promote
Healthy Eating and Active Lifestyles
Educate individuals, families, and communities about healthy dietary
patterns and regular physical activity, based on the Dietary Guidelines
for Americans.
Objective 1:
By September 30, 2008, FNP and EFNEP
will assess the impact of information
provided to FSP participant/eligible
groups on the importance of family meals
as a means of improving the quality of
meals based on an increase in fruit and
vegetable consumption.
(Increasing fruit and vegetable
consumption is as defined in the Dietary
Guidelines for Americans.)
Tactics:

Family
Meal lesson (handout) will be added
to the FNP reporting system for
tracking.

Report
number of times the Family Meals
lesson (handout) was used by FNP and
EFNEP Paraprofessionals.

Complete
the development and implementation
of the Mealtime Assessment Tool
(pilot testing and analyzing
results.

Objective 2:
By September 30, 2008, 50% of all
Indiana WIC agencies will receive,
implement and assess the impact of the
Family Meals handout as an option for
WIC nutrition education classes focusing
on the importance of family meals for
increased fruit and vegetable
consumption as defined in the Dietary
Guidelines for Americans.
Tactics:

Promote
Family Meals material as a preferred
choice for nutrition education
classes on fruits and vegetable
consumption in the WIC Nutrition
Education Plan FY08.

WIC
will report the number of agencies
that used the Family Meals
materials/handout. WIC will also
provide interim results of the
assessment of impact on the
audience.

Objective 3:
By September 30, 2008, all CACFP
sponsors will have access to family meal
resources via the Department of
Education (DOE) CACFP webpage. This will
include a link to 'Promoting Family
Meals' website where they can access the
Family Meals handout and additional
resources, and the opportunity to
request the Enriching Family Mealtimes
Tool Kit.
Tactics:
-
DOE
will report: the number of CACFP
sponsors requesting family meal
resources; the number of sponsors
receiving additional resources in
response to completing a survey; and
interim impact data on the
effectiveness of the family meals
resources in the CACFP.

All
CACFP sponsors completing the survey
used in the development of the Team
Nutrition workshops will receive the
Enriching Family Tool Kit to be used
in nutrition education activities.
