Goal:
Promote Healthy Eating and Active Lifestyles: Educate individuals,
families and communities about healthy dietary patterns and regular
physical activity, based on MyPyramid and the USDA Dietary Guidelines for
Americans, 2005.
Encourage partnerships and collaborative interventions targeting
healthy eating and being active among nutrition assistance programs and
other organizations (ex. Head Start, community health centers, emergency
food assistance programs, schools, faith based groups and/or community
organizations) that work with low income individuals and families.
Objective:
By September 2007strengthen
partnerships with other food assistance
programs through cooperation on delivery
of nutrition messages.
Accomplishment:
- Various agencies have come
together to cooperate on delivering
consistent nutrition messages. The
current membership includes:
Department of Education: including
National School
Breakfast/Lunch/After-school Snack
programs, Summer Food Program, Child
and Adult Care Food Program, Commodity
Supplemental Food Program, and Team
Nutrition;
Ohio Department of Health:
Including: Women's Infants and
Children (WIC)
Ohio Job and Family Services:
including Department of Family
Stability, Food Stamp/TEFAP Section
Ohio Department of Aging
Ohio State University Extension,
Food Stamp Nutrition Education (Ohio
Family Nutrition Program) and Expanded
Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP)

publications editor incorporated
font sizes and appropriate graphics
into OSU Extension fruit and
vegetable publications so that the
information is more "user
friendly" for participants with
limited eye sight. The publications
will be used at Sr. Farmer Market
sites.

Completed: September 2007
Objective:
By September 2007, increase awareness
and importance of physical activity and
nutrition in prevention of overweight
and obesity for the paraprofessional
staff of the local nutrition assistance
programs.
Accomplishment:
- Promoted Ohio Walks on the third
Monday of May 2007. Partners and
clients participated in
"Healthy Ohio" sponsored
by the Ohio Department of Health and
the Governor's Council.

Completed: May 2007
Objective:
By September 2007, Ohio FSNE will
establish partnerships for the delivery
of nutrition messages with the Ohio
Department of Education and USDA's
Summer Food Service Program.
Accomplishment:
- Eleven FSNE county units delivered
nutrition education programs in
partnership with ODE's Summer Food
Service Program (SFSP) sites. This
included implementing educational
activities with children attending
Summer Food Sites in selected
counties.
