Goal:
Promote
Healthy Eating and Active Lifestyles
Educate individuals,
families, and communities about healthy
dietary patterns and regular physical
activity, based on the Dietary
Guidelines for Americans.
Objective:
By September 30, 2007, 80% of all
Family Nutrition Program and EFNEP
Participants will implement the Family
Meals handout on the importance of
family meals for increased fruit and
vegetable consumption as defined in the
Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
Outcome:

EFNEP
paraprofessionals were trained on
how to use the Family Meals handout
and given a variety of lessons that
the materials could be used with.

A
web-based training on the Family
Meals handout was conducted for
Family Nutrition Program Assistants
to view before 1/08.
-
The
Mealtime Assessment Tool was
developed and the first set of
statistical tests on the pilot data
were ran.

Objective:
By September 30, 2007, 100% of all
Indiana WIC agencies will receive the
Family Meals handout on the importance
of family meals for increased fruit and
vegetable consumption as defined in the
Dietary Guidelines for Americans. This
handout will be implemented in agencies
as an option for group nutrition
education classes.
Outcome:

During
October 2006 thru September 2007,
the Family Meal Handout was added to
the Indiana WIC State Approved List
of Nutrition Educational Materials.

WIC
Staff received information about
Family Meals and the usage of the
Family Meals handout at the Indiana
State WIC Conference.

The
Indiana SNAP Team exhibited the
Family Meals handout and the concept
of Family Meals at the Indiana WIC
Conference in June.

foodservice directors (FSD) and Child
Care (Food Program) sponsors will have

- CACFP added a link to their
website so that FSP and Child Care
(Food Program) sponsors would have
access to the Family Meals handout.
