Goal:  

Promote Healthy Eating and Active Lifestyles 

Promote adoption of healthy dietary patterns and regular physical activity among individuals, families and communities based on key messages in the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. (Use/adapt Team Nutrition, Loving Support, Eat Smart. Play Hard.TM, and other national resources whenever possible.)

Objective 3

By July 31, 2007 INC partners will have presented at and participated in the USDA Midwest Region Cross Collaboration Conference in Chicago.

Outcome

  • On July 27, 2007 the USDA Midwest Region Cross Collaboration Conference was held at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago. Penny Roth presented "Raising the Bar for Successful Collaboration" as part of a panel discussion. Recent activities of the Illinois Interagency Nutrition Council were highlighted and used as examples of effective cross program collaborations. In addition 15 INC members were in attendance, several showcased activities via poster sessions.

Promote Healthy Community and School Nutrition Environment

Educate teachers, staff and parents about the importance of school physical activity, healthy eating and nutrition programs and policies.

Objective 1

Maintain communication among partners to foster activities to address healthy communities and school nutrition environments.

Provide opportunities for partnerships to promote common messages to address healthy communities and school nutrition environments.

Outcome

  • Through the summer months INC partners worked collaboratively to develop the Team Nutrition Training Grant's Principals Move and Crunch Challenge for FY 2008-09.
